Susan McGinn was the principal flutist of the Honolulu Symphony from 1990. A native of Detroit, she studied with some of the world’s most respected flutists at several major universities in the United States, and in England. She has been awarded positions in major music festivals throughout the world, where she has served as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Through these experiences, Susan has had the opportunity to perform with some of the world’s most renowned artists and conductors. She has instructed flute students at several universities in the United States and at many institutions in Hawaii. Susan is currently a member of Chamber Music Hawaii’s Spring Wind Quintet. She recently returned from Italy to join the newly-formed Hawaii Symphony as its principal flutist, and she joined Manoa School of Music & the Arts in January 2014.
